F1: The Most Wins

As Lewis Hamilton approached the record for most wins in Formula 1, the team at TwoCircles asked me to direct and produce a piece revisiting the history of all the drivers who held the title, from Giuseppe Farina in 1950 to Lewis Hamilton in 2020.

Brief

The initial concept was to rely on a 'history book' as a main visual element, creating a journey from the 1950s to now. Showcasing footage of drivers, photographs, and quotes that would give us a glimpse into their lives and achievements.

Process

The deadline was upon us given the nature of the event, the record could be broken at any time and we needed some room for last-minute changes.

Early on in the process, we had to determine what would and wouldn't work

It was key to find the balance between the 'old' aesthetic and the F1 branding style

Process

The pages were designed to tell the story not only in chronological order but to help travel through the book with a 3D camera without feeling too repetitive.
Had to dust off my editorial design skills.

Process

The whole project was created in Cinema 4D, using Corona Renderer and After Effects. Some clay renders below because they look pretty cool.
