Royal Ascot, the most glamorous race meeting in all of Britain has been happening since the 18th century. Visited by over 500,000 people every year it's the highlight of the summer social calendar for many. With this in mind, LiveWire Sports reached out to me to produce a piece inviting the public to experience the one-in-a-lifetime horse race event, surrounded by high fashion and exquisite cuisine.

Brief

Royal Ascot is a prestigious British horse racing event held annually at the Ascot Racecourse. This iconic five-day meet features a series of races, with the main event occurring once a year, attracting enthusiasts and spectators from all over the world.

I was tasked by the folks at LiveWire Sports with creating an animated video that captures the essence of a racegoer's day at Royal Ascot. The narrative aimed to showcase a thrilling journey, beginning with the excitement of entering the racecourse, experiencing the elegance of the exclusive enclosures, and culminating in the heart-pounding action of the races themselves.

By incorporating real footage from past years, photography, and visual effects, we were able to craft a visually stunning piece.

The final video, skillfully edited by the talented Christian Romero emphasizes the emotive aspects of Royal Ascot. Rather than focusing solely on the competitive nature of the event, the animation sought to convey the unique atmosphere and emotions experienced by racegoers.

Overall, the animated video successfully captured the spirit of Royal Ascot, highlighting the exhilaration and passion that racegoers feel throughout their day at this prestigious event.

Process

The main anchor for the whole piece was the use of double exposure shots connected through colorful dust clouds that revealed characters and situations making it more dynamic. I was lucky enough to bring the filmmaker Christian Romero on board to shoot some of these effects that we would use in the video.
